Acts of love...

Precious lil' Raeanne,

Watching you grow day by day is really one of life's greatest joy... Not just for the fact that you are growing up healthily, but also because lately, you seem more aware of your surroundings, people around you and most importantly, of yourself.

Everyday, you seem to be learning new things & new tricks... Some of which are so innocent and adorable... For instance, exploring with your hands, staring at your feet with curiosity (& at times try to bend down to lick it!), trying to reach out for and grab an object of interest with such delicate movements of your tiny hand, vocalizing your thoughts (though daddy & mummy have yet to master the art of understanding your language fully yet) & your infectious chuckle when mummy plays peek-a-boo with you...

Others, you try to use 'it' to get what you want... Like shouting 'Eh!', when we get distracted from playing with you to talk among ourselves, screaming for 'help' when you get tired from being on your stomach for too long (& when we roll you back onto your back, immediately you roll onto your stomach again! Duh!)...

Nevertheless, to mummy and daddy, everything about you is beautiful & precious to us. Cos, lil' one, you are our sweet angel..

Since the day you were born, you never failed to bring a smile to mummy...

When mummy goes into your room to kiss you goodbye before leaving for work, the sight of darling sleeping so soundly brings a smile to my lips... (Not to mention the times when sleep in your ultraman pose, supergirl pose & big boss crossing her legs pose!)

When mummy reaches home from work, the 1st thing I'll do upon stepping in is to go to darling and see how you are. Without fail, darling would always smile so sweetly upon seeing mummy. Seeing how your eyes light up when you see mummy, it makes my heart melt...

When mummy hold you close to feed you or to pat you to sleep, the way you comfortably snuggle up to mummy makes mummy feel like the most blissful mummy in the world... To be able to hold such a beautiful angel in my arms...

And most recently, darling had some new ways of showing affection for mummy which absolutely touched me. Last thursday, mummy was feeling extremely upset & tired.. So when daddy carried you and played wih you, mummy only stood next to you and watched you quietly. As though sensing mummy's sadness, darling started to try cheering mummy up.

1st trick: Darling placed you right hand onto mummy's shoulder and grinned at mummy happily. Aw... that brought a smile to mummy.

2nd trick: Darling seemed encouraged by mummy's smile and then your right hand went behind mummy's back and patted mummy! It was almost like you were saying "Mummy, it's ok. No matter what happens, you'll always have daddy and me by your side!" Awwww... that really melted mummy's heart & lifted mummy's spirit lots!

3rd & final most powerful trick: Darling then went on to use your right hand to hook round mummy's left arm. Then using your tiny bit of strength, you tried to pull mummy closer. At the same time, darling leaned your head over & rubbed your cheeks against mummy's arm! Awwwwwwwww.... There was no way mummy could resist darling's show of affection. It was so sweet of you! All mummy wanted to do then was to cuddle you closely & tightly & to love you back the same way!

Well, it could all have been random acts of exercise or the like. Afterall, I probably would have found it hard to believe it myself if someone had told me that a 5 month old would know how to tell when her mummy is upset & know how to console her like that.

Yet, that was the one & only one time daddy & mummy saw you do that. And afterwards, over the next few days, when daddy tried to get you to repeat your 'stunts', somehow, darling didn't do it again no matter how daddy tried to prompt you through a re-enactment of that day's position.

My precious lil' angel, whether it was an intentional or unintentional show of affection that day, it doesn't matter actually. Cos darling will forever be daddy & mummy's beautiful lil' princess... And daddy & mummy will love you always..

This time last year, mummy not only had to work, but was also throwing up badly. And in a flash, my lil' sweetheart is 5 months & 5 days old! How time flies... Mummy's wondering.... Wonder if this time next year, will I be able to hear sweetie sing mummy a birthday song?? ;p Mm, that seems a bit too much to ask of you... Maybe just the word 'mummy', in darling's sweet voice... That'll be the best birthday present that darling can ever give to mummy...

My precious lil' one, mummy loves you..
