Lil' Raeanne's progress!!

Yea!! Finally, our dearest princess has made some progress!! Today, mummy and daddy brought you back to the hospital for your bilirubin check.. Initial plan was to bring you back on D14, but because daddy had to go back to hospital today, we thought, might as well check today then...

The neonatologist who saw you today was Dr Poon, the same Dr who saw you for the first jaundice screening... One look and he said our lil' one looks much better today, not so jaundiced anymore! Immediately, mummy felt a slight relief.. But still, we had to check your levels cos it's been a week since your last check and we just had to be sure it's on the downward trend..

And so they drew the curtains.. That's always the most terrifying moment.. Cos what usually follows would be our lil' sweetheart's cries.. However, mummy and daddy's darling was extremely brave today.. You hardly even cried! Just a few shrieks of discomfort and then it was done.. I almost couldn't believe that it was over when they drew the curtains open.. Sweetheart, you are really a wonderful kiddo you know!
How can any lil' one like you go through such blood test without crying?! Mummy and daddy are so proud of you! =)

Then came the anticipation for the results.. After a long long wait, at about 5pm, the SN called to tell mummy that today, your bilirubin level is 130!=) Mummy was realy overjoyed to hear that.. I was expecting it to be lower than last sat.. but I din expect it to fall that much, which of cos is extremely good news! Now that we've crossed one hurdle, the next would be to make sure it normalizes soon. So one week later, we still have to bring you back for follow-up..

My lil' darling, mummy is so glad you made so much progress.. Looks like our effort in keeping you on a strict 3 hourly feeding so that you'll poo enough to pass out the bilirubin has paid off.. And though mummy is beginning to look like a panda, smell like milk and poo-poo.. but as long as you get well soon, everything's worth it..=)

P.S: Btw, we took your measurements again today.. Our lil' one weighed 3.35kg! Ermm.. height wasn't that accurate.. We measured you to be 42.8cm.. But your health booklet said you were 48cm at birth! How could you have shrunk?! So we concluded it's becos we din straighten your legs, that's why you seemed to have shrunk.. hee..
