A painful day..

My dearest lil' one is sound asleep right now.. after a traumatic morning...

Your first vaccination was on your birthday, 21st June, and that was for Hepatitis B.. Then on the 24th June, you also received the BCG jab which has formed a nice lil' scar now.. And today, you received 2 more jabs and an oral vaccination.. Well, could have been more! But daddy and mummy didn't want to let you go through so many jabs, so we chose the 6-in-1 Infanrix, which protects against diptheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, H. influenzae type B and hepatitis B (2nd shot). Being on the kiasu side, we also decided to let you have Prevenar, which protects you from pneumoccocal diseases.. as well as the rotavirus vaccination, which is in the form of an oral suspension.

Though it isn't our lil' darling's first encounter with needle pricks.. but its the first time mummy saw such a response.. When the nurse was going to jab the first one onto your left thigh, she told mummy not to look, but to talk to you instead.. Mummy tried.. and when I saw your face cringe in that fraction of a second, I knew your screams were next.. Mummy could no longer talk to you cos when mummy saw you crying so hard, mummy felt like bursting into tears too and my voice became strained... Soon after the nurse pulled out the needle and stick on a plaster for you, our brave lil' one's cries stopped.. But that wasn't the end...

The nurses then turned you the other way, getting ready to jab the 2nd one onto your right thigh.. Again, they told mummy to hold on to your arms and talk to you... Then it happened again.. Mummy's lil' sweetheart's face was all crumpled up and red.. your mouth was wide open, all ready to scream, but it was so painful that your powerful scream took a few more seconds before it seemed to reach your throat! My poor lil' darling was crying so hard and loud.. Mummy quickly wrapped you up and cuddled you tightly in my arms.. Again, that's not the end of your painful day yet!

Cos finally, you still had to gulp down that seemingly horrible-tasting rotavirus vaccine.. Well, mummy gathered it really tasted horrible, cos even our greedy lil' princess, whose feeding time was drawing near, cried while being fed that disgusting liquid.. Ugghh!

Our darling Raeanne, mummy and daddy are sorry to put you through such an ordeal, but it's all for your own good.. And mind you, they don't come cheap either! Now that your ordeal is over, it's probably daddy and mummy's turn to have nightmare.. Well, that is if you have fever and such, as a result of the vaccination..

For the moment, it's still all-clear.. Mummy just took your temperature.. 36.7 deg celcius.. Keep it this way won't you, lil' sweetheart?

Meanwhile, enjoy your pain-free days while they last.. cos you'll have to revisit it 6 weeks down the road..

Sweetdreams, lil' sweetheart..

P.S: Our lil' darling measured to be 4kg and 52cm today!! (How come you are 2cm shorter than when daddy measured you few days back??)
